Ros joined the Royal Army Medical Corps and served as a combat medic for five years.

She and her partner were both in the military and when her circumstances changed and the relationship broke down she found herself in a very difficult and unfamiliar situation.  She found herself homeless with two children and unable to find a home for her family.

It was only when she met an associate organisation that she heard about Veterans Housing Scotland for the first time.  ‘My life had become so stressful and I didn’t know where to turn.  I knew I wanted to move to the Central Belt and was having no success at all.

‘Meeting VHS changed everything for my family and me.  My daughter is now settled at University and my son has joined Police Scotland.  They are happier knowing that I am settled and they have somewhere warm and secure to come home to.  As a result of having a stable home life I have been able to get a job with Edinburgh City Council as a Residential Care Officer and I am looking forward to the future.

'My advice to anyone finding themself in a similar position is not to be afraid to ask for help.  My life has definitely changed for the better since meeting Veterans Housing Scotland.'
